Maj Gen Sandeep Sharma (Retd.)

Bio:

Maj Gen Sandeep Sharma joined Indian Army in 1981. Alumni of National Defence Academy, the officer is also of Defence Services Staff CollegeWellington and College of Defence Management Secunderabad. He is M Tech (Computer Science & Engg) from IIT Kanpur and Master in Management Science from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He is a Life Member of Computer Society of India, Life member of AIMA and Fellow of IETE. He has been involved with cybersecurity since 2010 and involved in the creation of Army Cyber Group as its first head overseeing establishment of cyber audit, CERT-Army, forensics lab, and security testing lab fit the Indian Army. He drafted the Army Cyber Security Policy in 2012. Due to his initiative and vision, the Forensics Lab of Army in 2012 was declared as an examiner of Digital Evidence under section 78 of IT Act 2000, the first lab in the country to be recognized through a gazette notification. He has been involved in various cyber initiatives at the National levels since 2010. The officer has written several articles on operations research, knowledge management, cyber awareness, and cyber warfare. For his distinguished services to the Army and Nation, he has been awarded Vishisht Seva Medal and commendation cards.
