Automobile CAN hacking

Have you ever hacked a real car? This workshop will first present the basics of a CAN bus and how the ECUs communicate together. I will then show how to spoof commands on the CAN bus, explain the authentication mechanisms that are used to get privileged access to an ECU. Depending on the mechanisms that will be found, we will try and brute-force some of them, then dump the whole memory of an ECU and do some reverse engineering.

Guillaume Heilles is a security engineer at Quarkslab. He's mainly focused on hardware attacks on IoT devices, but also on reverse engineering and exploitation. He has presented the hardware CTF at in 2017.
